BILLY NELSON REID
September 7, 1939- February 5, 2019
Born in Warrenton, Virginia
Resided in Clearfield, Pennsylvania

Billy N. Reid passed away peacefully on February 5, 2019, surrounded by family. Billy was born on September 7, 1939 in Warrenton, Virginia to Annie Fletcher Reid and Martin Reid. Billy graduated from Blue Ridge Episcopal School, Class of 1958. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. Billy then graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 1968, and worked as an appliance technician in York, Pennsylvania and then for Fulford’s Appliance Center in Bethesda, MD until he suffered a serious back injury which disabled him for a number of years. When able to return to work, he worked at the Department of Defense On-Site Inspection Agency and retired from there in 1996.
Billy was a devout Christian and member of the Anglican Church in Falls Church, VA. He enjoyed the study of the bible and briefly attended the Seminary in Alexandria, VA until his health prevented him from further education.
Billy was a well known country singer and performed with bands in Southern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. He sang in the style of Ray Price and Merle Haggard.
Billy was an avid sports fan and supporter of the Washington Redskins. He greatly enjoyed coaching his sons in little league football and baseball in McLean, VA and Falls Church, VA. He was very proud to have his sons recruited to play football for Virginia Tech. He played an integral part in the organization of the Marshall High School Booster Club in Falls Church, VA.
Being a father and grandfather was the great joy of Bill’s life and he was overjoyed to be reunited with his daughter Robin after forty years of trying to locate her.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife of forty- five years, Rosalie Cardinale Reid, his children Robin Davis of Richmond, Virginia, Chris Morrison of Arizona, his step-children, Lisa MacCammon (David) of Fairfax, Virginia, Donna Kirby (James) of Vienna, Virginia, Joseph D. Swarm (Stacy) of Potomac Falls, Virginia and William E. Swarm (Michelle) of Grasonville, Maryland , thirteen grand children and three great grand children, as well as his brother James Reid of Warrenton, Virginia and half-sister Linda Vian of Sparta, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Walter Reid and Warren Reid of Warrenton, Virginia and a half-brother Glen Reid of Kennesaw, Georgia.
Billy loved country music, family and dogs and was a witty guy who had many lifelong friends. He was a proud Virginian and his final wishes were to be laid to rest in the state he called home. He always said, Virginia Born, Virginia Bred , When I Die, I’m Virginia Dead!
