Colonel Paul Robert Buckley, 84, of Warrenton, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at The Adler Center in Aldie, VA after a long battle with lung cancer and COPD. Paul was born November 17, 1932 in Natick, MA to Edward and Violet Buckley.
A lifelong student, he attended Harvard, the Universities of Oklahoma and Nebraska.
His distinguished military career included commanding a Field Artillery Battalion in Viet Nam and service in the office of the Army Chief of staff. After retiring from the Army, Paul enjoyed a career in banking in Baltimore, Md.
Colonel Buckley was an enthusiastic marathon walker who organized many March of Dimes events.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Helen Wheeler; their two daughters, Dorothy Helen Buckley and Victoria Buckley Hackler; as well as beloved grandchildren, Caroline, Evan and Lauren Hackler.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings, Edward, Neil, Charles, Eleanor, William, Dorothy and George Buckley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10:45 AM at the Old Post Chapel at Ft. Myer followed by intererment with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
