Diann Arlene Hudson, age 69, of Manassas (former longtime resident of Haymarket) died suddenly on December 18, 2017 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
She was born in California on September 9, 1948.
Diann would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening and crafting to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her children to celebrate her mission here on earth, which has now been completed.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Diann during her 69 years, among them: Never throw away old pantyhose. Use the old ones as a replacement for the rubber blades on windshield wipers in the middle of a heavy rainstorm. It really works when you have to get home!
Diann was a loving mother and grandmother, who was adored by her two children and her two grandchildren. She fondly called them “Sweet Pea” and “Honey Bunny”. She always had a smile on her face. She was gentle and kind, but also had an incredible sense of humor.
She is survived by two children; Leslie Ann Beets and Randall Ryder Hudson; her mother, Dolores DeLane; a brother, Thomas DeLane; two grandchildren, Lacey and Colt Hudson. Her father, Frederick DeLane preceded her in death.
From her children:
You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door…
You worry now “Are they ok?”
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder “Where have my children gone?”
Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.
And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone.
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home.
Thank you, Mom.
We love you more than you will ever, ever know...Leslie & Randy.
