Howard “Owen” Shull passed away in his home on Sunday, January 7th, 2018.
Owen was born August 14, 1935 in Marlboro, VA. He was 82 years of age. He grew
up in Winchester, VA before joining the US Navy in 1952. He remained in the navy
until 1956, serving aboard the USS Roosevelt and the USS Coral Sea during the
Korean War conflict.
Owen remained very active in his community, including being the Commander of
the Winchester VFW Post 2123 as well as a life member of the American Legion in
Winchester. He also enjoyed several community activities, including 100year reenactments,
participating with the 5th VA volunteer infantry at Fort Shenandoah, a
Cub Scouts Leader and an Assistant Scout Master.
Owen was very personable, he loved to talk, share stories and make new friends.
He was very well loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife
Charlotte, their three children, Toni, Michael, Lee and their two grandchildren,
Addison And Brody.
When asked by the nurse why he was being brought to the hospital today, Owen’s
Services will be held at Moser Funeral Home, in Warrenton, VA on Wednesday,
January 17th at 2pm. Followed by a reception at Marshall Methodist Church in
Marshall., VA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Owen’s name to the
Marshall Volunteer Rescue Squad, who were instrumental in the care of Owen for
the last six years, or the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer
