Major Jason Jones, age 35 passed away on December 7, 2016, while serving at Army Headquarters, 101 Airborne Division Fort Campbell, K.Y. He was born in Buffalo N.Y., December 4, 1981. He relocated with his mother and sister to the Northern Virginia area. He attended Liberty High School, where he was active in the Army JROTC Program. Upon graduation he attended Longwood University, resuming the ROTC program upon graduation he was commissioned into the US Army where he completed his studies and received his Masters Degree.
His awards included Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal, 2; Army Achievement Medal, 3; Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army), 2 National Defense Service Medal Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star. His outstanding career in the US Army lasted 13 years 6 months. He was looking into retiring to spend more time with his daughter Bailey.
He is survived by his mother Adriane Uhrich and sister Erin Jones of Warrenton, VA, his daughter Bailey Jones of Suffolk, VA, his grandparents Arthur and Rita Sadowski of Eden NY; uncle, aunts and extended family.
The family received friends on Friday December 16 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave, Warrenton, VA. Funeral Service will be at Fort Myer, Old Post Chapel on May 1, 2017 at 10:45am with burial at Arlington National Cemetery Arlington, VA.
