Lawrence “Larry” J. Martin, Jr. ,66, of Washington, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2017. He was born on January 29, 1951 in Arlington, Virginia, Larry was a very proud Vietnam Veteran, whose eyes always sparkled whenever he had a chance to meet and share stories with another fellow veteran. While in the service, Larry was an expert M-16 sharp shooter and tank driver. He loved the mountains, bald eagles and his favorite place, Tennessee. Also, he was a huge jokester who loved picking back and forth with his mother, as they shared the same sense of humor. Larry is loved greatly and will be missed tremendously.
Larry is proceeded in death by his father, Wallace Lee Jernigan.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine “Dinah” Clyburn Jernigan; four sisters: Sharon Garrett (Remington, VA), Debbie Jenkins (Orange, VA), Dinah Snow (Staunton, VA), Denise Scott of (Washington, VA); three brothers: Dell Jernigan and his wife, Lena (Tom Brooks, VA), Robert “Danny” Jernigan (Washington, VA), Charles “David” Jernigan and his wife, Dawn (Remington, VA); his honorary brother, Timmy Snyder and Gloria Snyder; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation for Larry will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Moser Funeral Home, 4:00 - 6:00 pm. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9:00 am, followed by burial at Culpeper National Cemetery at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moser Funeral Home to help offset funeral costs.
