I have been with Lilly in a vigil lasting over five days. For the last 48 hours I could do nothing but watch and listen to her breathe. She had one foot in this life and one foot in the next Life. By the grace of God we spoke several times during this ordeal. She spoke clearly when she was able, spoke of seeing Lucy, her deceased older sister, spoke of seeing Jesus, told me many times she loved me even when all she could do was form words with her mouth. I'm comforted by the belief that she felt no pain at a time that some find excruciating and almost unbearable to watch. Thankfully I had numerous prayer warriors to help me understand the end of life process and personally guide me at every step of the way including the final arrangements for my wife of 19 years. I am certain that Lilly is with God in Heaven. We are saying goodbye this Sunday to a vessel that served her well for nearly 90 years.
