Olga Kosowsky Flick (Olga Kaye), 97, former private secretary, organist, and homemaker, died October 2, 2018 at Fauquier Health, Rehab, and Nursing in Warrenton, VA.
Born in Wilmington, DE, to the late Harry, Sr. and Rose Huta Kosowsky, Olga grew up in, and was an active member of, SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, of which her father was one of the founding fathers. She also worked in her family’s store, Kosowsky’s Food Market. She received her musical training at the University of Delaware and worked as a private secretary at Delaware Memorial Hospital, where she would play the chapel organ during her lunch break for the enjoyment of patients, staff, and visitors throughout the hospital. She was a well-known, well-loved pianist/organist playing at The Kent Manor Inn - Wilmington, DE; at Delaware beach restaurants in Bethany, Lewes, and Rehobeth, and in West Palm Beach, FL; and at the Pentagon City Sports Center and the Filmore Restaurant, both in Arlington, VA.
After marrying and settling in Arlington, Olga was an active member/supporter/volunteer for the Arlington Civic Association, The American Legion, the local AARP - Chapter 284, Senior Centers, The Heritage Foundation, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and various church and school functions (choir, Sunday School, PTO, VBS, and many others). Olga, along with her husband, was a strong supporter of Camp Highroad, a Christian Adventure Camp in Middleburg, VA, where they attended family camps and retreats, sent their children to summer camps, and served as Camp Highroad Representatives for Arlington United Methodist Church.
Olga was preceded in death by her spouse, Dr. Donald F. Flick; her son, Terence D. Flick, Sr.; a granddaughter, Jessica R. Flick; and siblings, Michael, Mitchell, Harry, Jr., Walter, and Jimmy Kosowsky.
Olga is survived by her sisters, Jenny Kulyk and Dorothy Sacco; her daughter, Rose F. Shaffer and husband, Robert, of Amissville, VA; grandchildren Terence D. Flick, Jr., Patricia F. King, Laurel R. Shaffer, William A. Shaffer, and Caroline N. Shaffer; great-grandchildren Devaun and Jessika King, and Marley Macon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be as follows:
October 25th - 3 pm visitation, 4 pm service at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, VA 20186.
November 3rd - 12 pm Graveside Service at Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 West Ridge Road, Linwood, PA 19061
