Stella Caroline Clarke Hunt, 90, o f Warrenton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017. She was born June 30, 1927, in Philomont, VA to the late William Walker Clarke and Dora Buanna Carter Clarke. In March 1947 she married James Raymond (JR) Hunt, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2009.
Mrs. Hunt graduated from Marshall High School in 1945 as Salutatorian of her class. She was hired in 1954 by Safeway of Warrenton, VA where she worked in the meat department. She retired in august 1984 after 30 years of service. Stella loved to read, especially her Bible, and she loved to cook for family, friends and church.
Mrs. Hunt's family and her faith in Jesus Christ were what she valued most in life. She was a faithful member her whole life of Warrenton Assembly of God and Belvoir Assembly of God churches where she taught Sunday school and served as Women's Missionary Leader for many years. She was a kind and gentle person and her love and dedication to God, family and community touched many lives. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. hunt is survived by her son James R. Hunt III and his wife Jane, grandchildren Michelle hunt of Northeast, MD; Jeanette Hunt of Elkton, MD; Jordan Deis of New Orleans, LA; Tabatha Post and husband Bob of Powhatan, VA; Jennifer Horste and husband Tad of Warrenton, VA; 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Geneva Gay Norris of Marshall, VA, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Her sister, Leona Mozelle Bryant of Saraland, AL preceded her in death on April 22, 2016.
Her family wishes to thank the team at Blue Ridge Christian home who cared For Stella for over 8 years. We also thank the following ladies who cared for her and her husband, Jay, in their home prior to moving to the Blue Ridge Christian Home: Joanne Smoot, Sarah Simpson, Peggy Goldsmith and Tanis McDanolds.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 11 from 6 to 8pm at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, VA where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 10:30am.
