Willie Avant Jones, Jr., 94 of Warrenton, VA passed away on Sept. 3, 2017 at his home.
He was born on September 1, 1923 in Wilmington, NC a son of the late Willie A. Jones, Sr. and Nellie Harker Jones.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army and then worked for Standard Oil Company. In 1950, he graduated from the College of William and Mary. n He worked for the D. C. Court of General Sessions for a number of years and then worked in retail and sold real estate. As a young man he enjoyed sailing and in his later years enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Doyle Jones; four children, Karen Jones, Dumfries, VA, David Jones and his wife Veronica of Austin, TX, Mark Jones and wife Sheila of Arlington, VA and Keith Jones of Warrenton; four grandchildren, Madeline, Kate, Ava and Fiona Jones.
The family will receive friends at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Sept. 11 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Warrenton. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery (new section).
