Minnie Katherine ''Kay'' Jennings
Kay Jennings, 89, passed away at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia on March 31, 2010.
Born in Aiken, South Carolina on February 25, 1921, Kay was the daughter of Beverly Randolph McCreight and Sarah Katherine Sullivan. She spent her young life in Newton, North Carolina and moved to Springfield, Virginia in 1955.
In 1983, after the death of her husband of forty years, Louis, she took over the daily operation of Springfield Toyota, making her the first female owner/operator of a Toyota dealership in North America. As an automobile dealer, she provided new opportunities for women; both as customers and employees. In 1995 she retired and spent her later years between Camden, South Carolina and Warrenton, Virginia.
She is survived by her brother Dr. Charles McCreight, and two sisters, Sarah Grozbean and Mary Goodman. She is also survived by her five children, Katherine Dauphin, Beverly Hennager, Louis Jennings, Jr., Mary Dearden and Michael Jennings, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2PM on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Zoar Baptist Church 11036 Elk Run, Catlett, VA 20119.
