Darius Harold Poland, Jr., 77 of Woodstock, VA, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA. He was born in Merrifield, VA on September 29, 1932 to the late Ora Clayborn and Darius H. Poland, Sr. His sister Gloria Tunnell preceded him in death.
Darius was a member of the Oak Shade United Methodist Church in Rixeyville, VA, the Moose Lodge in Woodstock and was part owner of Poland’s Paving for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Betty M. Poland, six children; William Poland of Mineral, VA, Gloria Clatterbuck of Greenwich, VA, Darlene Murphy of Sumerduck, VA, Shawn Delph of Opal, VA, Kimberly Gent of Fort Valley, VA, Pamela Murphy of Chantilly,VA, three brothers; Herbert Poland of Charlestown, WV, James Poland Brentsville, VA, Ronald Poland of St. James City, FL, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Moser Funeral Home where services will be held on Monday, April 12 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice of Winchester 333 West Cork Street, Suite #405 Winchester, VA 22601 or the American Cancer Society P.O.
