Georgia Elizabeth Hickey, 82, of Gainesville, VA died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Capital Hospice in Arlington, VA. She was born on January 30, 1928 in Pitcairn, PA to James Simpson and Ella Platte Simpson. Her husband Herbert Guy Hickey preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hickey was a teacher’s assistant at the Tiny Tots Preschool and was a member of the Broad Run Baptist Church.
She is survived by her five children Deborah Hickey of Gainesville, Kenneth (Monica) Hickey of Olney, MD, Mark (Darlene) Hickey of Gainesville, Lynne (Brian) Dean of Rixeyville and Michael (Kim) Hickey of Crofton, MD, three grandchildren; Sara, Jessica and Emma Hickey. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine Jones of Pittsburgh and Florence Perry of Wellsboro, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 10 at Moser Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Friday, June 11 at the Broad Run Baptist Church 5143 Broad Run Church Road Warrenton, VA 20187. Burial will be in the Slate Run Cemetery in Slate Run, PA on Sunday, June 13 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Capital Hospice P.O. Box 1576 Merrifield, VA 22116.
