Richard Edward Carter, Sr., of Warrenton, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Carter was born on September 15, 1924 in Washington, D.C. to Ashton Edward Carter and Mattie Lee Hawkins Carter. He was the oldest of eleven children and is preceded in death by three brothers; Judson, Arthur and Ralph Carter.
Mr. Carter served his country in the U.S. Army, he retired as a mechanical engineer, enjoyed cars, history and ''tinkering'' with just about anything.
He is survived by his wife Bianca Donati Carter and four children; Roy Lee Stone and wife Sidney of Chapin, SC, Florene Wine and husband Larry of Warrenton, Liana Pivirotto and husband Rino of Fredericksburg and Richard Edward Carter, Jr. of Warrenton, seven grandchildren; Sophia and Hunter Stone, Billy Wine, Lindsey Nicole Carter, Richard Edward Carter, III, Orlina Tucker and husband Andrew and Elizabeth Satterthwaite. Also surviving are six sisters; Evelyn Harmer, Betty Fitzpatrick, Beverly Wilson, Anne Evans, Ruth Simpson and Diane Adkins and a brother, David Carter.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Moser Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the Warrenton Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA.
